Remodel for Richard and Beth Rogers  Design: Seaside Union Architects Landscape Design: Sydney Baumgartner Built: Chismahoo Construction, Steve Ondre and Tom Jackson supervising 1987 Carpinteria, CA This charming beach house on Sandyland cove had been badly remodeled in the ‘70’s. All the previous finishes had to be removed, stripping the house down to its 20’s single wall construction for refinishing. The foundation was reinforced. A new exterior staircase and entry foyer was added. New windows and doors were installed. All new exterior and interior cladding had to be custom sawn and milled to match existing materials. All mechanical, sanitary and electrical systems were brought up to date. New decks, walkways and stairs down to the beach installed. The tennis court was refinished, with new fencing and a 32’ bi-folding gate opening it onto the yard. The entire acre was re-landscaped with a spa, fountain and an arbor at the entry to the property with a hand carved inscription “It’s Never Too Late to Have a Happy Childhood”   |
